The Sampson Community College auditorium came alive last Saturday night with talent as dozens of young, and young at heart, put on a breath-taking display, showcasing everything from mime and dance to piano solos and recitations, all part of the local Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Cultural Varietal.
From the fellowship before the event to the nearly 70-minute program, each second was dedicated to the enoromous talent across Sampson and gave the audience a virtual buffet of entertainment that kept them on the edge of their seats and moved them to tears at times, smiles of joy at others..
“It’s been an amazing night,” said Mary Brown. “I have enjoyed every single second.”
They were words echoed by everyone who attended as they sat back and watched the talent unfold and rose to their feet in hearty applause, acknowledging the talent and thanking those who performed for giving them all a night to remember.
There were dancers from Quisan’s Dance Academy, piano solos by brothers Tyler and Ethan Johnson, a mime ministry, praise dancers and a moving performance of Negro spirituals by members of the Dorothy Starr Johnson Ensemble.
“We have a lot of great talent in this county,” said Delta Susan Smith. “I am glad to have been a part of such a great night.”
