AUTRYVILLE — A 24-year-old Autryville man has been arrested on a laundry list of charges following a dispute that reportedly turned ugly in the early hours of Friday morning.

Johnny Laster Ezzell, 24, of 285 Pauline Lane, Autryville, was taken into custody on charges of first degree burglary; robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of stolen goods at 1:30 a.m. Friday.

According to reports, Ezzell is alleged to have approached a residence on Carry Bridge Road in Autryville late Thursday night and made numerous threats to the homeowner.

In reports, the victim stated that Ezzell threatened “bodily harm” to him if he didn’t take him to an ATM cash machine and get him money.

Afraid for his life, the victim, who said he knew of Ezzell, but was not “friends” with him, called 911 and reported the incident.

After deputies with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office left the scene, the suspect is alleged to have returned to the Carry Bridge Road residence, broke into a second story window, grabbed a pair of scissors and made the same threat to the victim.

However, the victim heard glass breaking upstairs and called officers before he was approached by the suspect.

Ezzell was captured, taken to the Sampson County Detention Center and placed under a $100,000 bond.

Deputies found various prescriptions belonging to the victim at the time of the suspect’s arrest. They charged him with first degree burglary, reports indicate, because the robbery took place at night in an occupied dwelling.

According to officials at the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, the case is “still open” for review and additional charges may be leveled against Ezzell.
