In John 4:13,14 Jesus says “whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again. But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
This is Jesus talking to the woman who came to this well for water which provides nourishment for her family. This was her daily routine of going to this well and gathering water from it at a particular time of the day. She came this time and there was a man standing there who offered her something different then what she had been used to.
Many Christians are just like this lady; we are “people of habits.” We do the same thing over and over and over and expect something different to happen. If you want something different, you have to do something different. This water never quenched her thirst, yet she kept coming to get it. That could be you who is trusting in all the other things, everything but Jesus.
Could your faith be in your job, your bank account, your career, your title, people, your church, your denomination? And you being like this woman, is still thirsty. When all of these things run dry — and they will at some point in your Christian walk — who do you turn to?
If you want different results in the Lord then maybe you need to do something different, something other than what you have been doing. In other words, step out of your comfort zone and break your routines. Change your prayer time, change your devotion time, change your fasting time, and change up your customary way of doing things.
Jesus simply asked her to try something new, and if she did her life would never be the same, and she would never thirst again. Could he be asking you through this article to step out in faith and try something new?
Satan has your routine down pat, he knows when you do your Godly things, and that’s why it’s hard to do them sometimes, because he knows how to “steal” your attention away, he knows how to “kill” your joy which now leaves you “destroyed,” spiritually speaking. Saints of God, only Jesus can fulfill the void that’s missing in your life, so stop trying to fill it with worthless things which lead you back to the “well” thirsting for more. Let God fill you with his love, with his joy, with his peace, with his word and watch how you will never thirst again.
