U10 honored by city
The City Council recognized the U10 Clinton Stars baseball team (10 years old and under) for winning the State SWAC (State Wide Athletic Committee) Baseball Tournament on July 29. The team was previously presented with a plaque and each player received a medal. At the Council meeting, the players and coaches received city pins and congratulations from Mayor Lew Starling during the Council meeting earlier this week. Coach Darrell Smith, at left, presented Starling with a team championship medal, which he said would be put on display in the mayor's office. A sign will also be made to place at Royal Lane in recognition of the team's accomplishments. (Chris Berendt/Sampson Independent)
