A Newton Grove man is the latest alleged culprit arrested as part of Operation Scarecrow, the undercover campaign led by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Division that has now netted 24 arrests and taken the total felony warrants served to over 100.
Eric Tyrique Teachey, 24, of 3022 W. Darden Road, Newton Grove, was charged with selling cocaine, delivering cocaine, selling counterfeit cocaine and delivering counterfeit cocaine, according to reports filed at the Sheriff’s Office Friday. Bond was set at $30,000 secured.
The charges reportedly stemmed from Operation Scarecrow, a six-month undercover investigation targeting the sale and distribution of methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and prescription pills. Started as a result of citizen complaints, the operation involved SID agents conducting undercover buys which subsequently led to dozens upon dozens of warrants being issued.
According to his arrest report, warrants were taken out on Teachey on Oct. 4 and served at an Ella Lane residence in the Turkey area Thursday afternoon. He was arrested without incident. Reports state that the investigation resulted in the seizure of 3.7 grams of cocaine and 38.7 grams of counterfeit cocaine.
