It has been three years in the planning, and it will be coming to Clinton on Saturday, Feb. 4, a one-day worship service for all ages. The Rise Up — Recount Love celebration will be held at the Sampson Agri-Exposition Center from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. The event is sponsored by Tim’s Gift, Inc. with proceeds going to help a variety of ministries throughout the area.
“It is a scary thing going out on faith,” expressed Becky Spell with Tim’s Gift, who will also be the morning speaker. “But God has put it on my heart that Clinton needs a renewal that the Rise Up — Recount Love celebration will bring.”
Three years ago Spell was attending a conference in Charlotte that was extremely inspiring and she said it was there that God put it on her heart that Clinton needed something similar, and she started praying about it.
“We have been working on this event for three years. I have even had it scheduled once and decided to call it off because it was not the right time. But I feel this year’s event will be something that will change the lives of the people of Clinton if they participate,” asserted Spell.
The rally revival will contain the three Rs — rejoice, restore and revive. Spell and her staff have been working to plan an event that will touch all age groups, she pointed out, and they believe this rally will be just that.
The doors will open at 9 a.m. with vendors from all around available for anyone to visit. A women’s conference will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided and tickets for $10 will be available at Tim’s Gift.
Spell and her assistant Loren Hawley will conduct the women’s conference. “The women’s conference will be all about relationships. Husband-wife, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, family, God. We are planning on it being a fun time and it will be comical as well as informative,” shared Spell.
There will be activities for children throughout the day so parents can attend the sessions.
At 3 p.m, the youth rally will be held and will last until 5 p.m. Admission to the youth rally will be $1 plus one canned good. “The money will go toward helping the ministries and the canned goods will be donated to the Crisis Center or a similar agency. There will also be hamburgers and hot dogs available for them to purchase during the youth rally,” explained Spell. The youth will be led by world boxing heavyweight champion Bonecrusher Smith and local minister Tyler Jernigan, along with several local musicians.
The night session should prove to be a touching service, Spell noted. It will begin at 6 p.m. with The Marksmen leading the service in praise and worship. The evening speaker will be Tawana Williams.
Williams was born without arms but has not let her impairment become a hindrance. She has a worldwide ministry and has written four books, one entitled “Unarmed but Dangerous.”
“When I called Ms. Williams and she told me how much a booking costs, I asked myself why was I on the phone with her. There is no way to pay her price. But after talking with her a while and explaining our ministry she told me she had cleared her calendar and would be in Clinton on Feb. 4. She called me just a day or two ago and informed me she had suffered a stroke on Nov. 27 but her memory is coming back and that she would be here Feb. 4. It will be her first appearance since the stroke,” asserted Spell.
Williams told Spell, “The message is more important than the money. God will take care of it,” Spell noted.
There is no charge for the evening session but a love offering will be accepted.
Karry Godwin will serve as worship leader throughout the rally. “We are excited and thrilled that Karry Godwin will serve as our worship leader; he will help add continuity to the day,” said Spell.
“God has been through this project from the beginning,” cited Spell. “He has provided volunteers and people to help us that I didn’t even know. Others I have known for a long time and some are even prayer partners here at Tim’s Gift.”
Sampson’s Register of Deeds, Eleanor Bradshaw, is going to lead a meditative session throughout the day where anyone can come to experience quiet time with God and draw closer to him and Jerry Hood from the Love of Christ Ministry will be on hand to assist with the food.
“We are truly fortunate to have Jerry Hood. He ministers to those who do not have food to eat in Fayetteville and Bladenboro,” said Spell.
Hood happened to come in during the interview and he shared that the Love of Christ Ministry serves meals on Highway 301, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th Sunday of each month and at Bo’s Grocery in Bladenboro the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. “We have two groups. There are about 15 people from various churches in the area to help out in Fayetteville and about five people who assist with the ministry in Bladenboro. We have been blessed through this ministry and we are happy to be able to assist Mrs. Spell with this ministry in February,” shared Hood.
“This ministry will celebrate their third anniversary in March and the number of people they serve is ever increasing. Hood explained that they were fortunate that so many have volunteered and donated to the ministry. Someone donated a vehicle to the ministry and they have recently purchased a second feeding trailer that will be donated. Hood currently receives some items for the food bank and is hoping to become a non-profit organization this year so the ministry will also be able to receive food from the bank. “By participating in the Rise Up — Recount Love celebration we are able to help another ministry which in turn will help us. It is what God calls us to do…help one another,” expressed Hood.
Proceeds from the Rise Up — Recount Love celebration will go to a number of ministries, including: Worship Discovery Ministry, Toward A Fruitful Ministry, Mr. Windows Soup Kitchen, Open Door Ministries, Valley Of Hope Ministries, Celebrate Recovery, Tyler Jernigan Ministry, Tawana Williams Ministry, Love of Christ Ministry, Illuminate and Tim’s Gift.
