The Sampson County Parks & Recreation ended its 2012 volleyball season Nov. 15, at the Old Midway Elementary School. SCPR acquired 10 9-12 year old volleyball teams for the 2012 season — two from the Eastern District, three from the Western District, one from the Southern District, and four from the Northern District.
The first round of the tournament was held Saturday, Nov. 10 at Old Midway Elementary School. Game one was a matchup for the 4th seed Eastern Zoom vs the 9th seed Western Attack. The Western Attack came out with a win of 3 sets to 2. The second game, 6th seeded Northern Bombers played the 7th seeding Northern Sunfire with the Northern Bombers winning with a score of 3 sets to 1. The third set was the 8th seeded Western Eclipse vs the 5th seeded Eastern Swarm with the Western Eclipse winning 3 sets to 2. The fourth game the Northern Bombers played the 1st seeded team, the Eastern Explosion, who were the Season Champions with an undefeated record. The Eastern Explosion won the game 3 sets to 0. The fifth game was a match between the 2nd seeded Northern Chaos against the Western Eclipse. The Northern Chaos won 3 sets to 2. The last game of the day was played between the 10th seeded Western Rockets and the 3rd seed Southern Flames with the Flames winning 3 sets to 1.
The second round of the tournament as played on Tuesday, Nov. 13. The Western Attack played the Eastern Explosion with the Explosion winning 3 sets to 0. The second game was between Northern Chaos and the Southern Flames with Chaos winning 3 sets to 0.
The Tournament Championship took place Thursday, Nov. 15. The top two seeded teams, Eastern Explosion and Northern Chaos, played a nail biter. They took each other to five, close sets. The Northern Chaos pulled out on top, defeating the Eastern Explosion, claiming the Tournament Championship title.
The Sampson County Parks & Recreation staff said they would like to thank the coaches, parents, and participants for a great season.
