Crusaders defeat Cape Fear Academy

The Harrells Christian Academy boys got back in the win column Tuesday night, getting a road victory over rival Cape Fear Academy. Final score 52-45, HCA.

A strong second half gave the Crusaders the boost they needed to get the win.

Cape Fear started strong, taking an 11-7 first quarter lead and holding off a comeback attempt from the Crusaders to go up 25-20 at the half.

But Harrells posted two strong quarters after the break, scoring 16 points in each to give them the win.

A strong defensive showing in the fourth period allowed the Crusaders to hold their opponents to 4 points while seizing the scoring opportunities needed to take the win.

Graham DiPinto led scoring for the Crusaders with 18 points. He also pulled down 2 rebounds and had 2 steals. Also scoring for Harrells were Zack Carlton, 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals; John Wesley Hairr, 6 points, 4 rebounds; Patrick Walker, 6 points, 3 rebounds; Chris Cannady, 6 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal; and Josh Driskill, 3 points, 9 rebounds.

The win moves the Crusader record to 4-10 overall and 1-4 in conference play. They travel to Fayetteville for a game Friday.
