CLINTON — The Rev. Glenwood Hemmingway, 51 of 300 Eastover Avenue, died Monday, May 25, 2009 in his home.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Sunset Avenue Elementary School auditorium with the Rev. James Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
There will be no public viewing but visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, at Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home from noon to 6 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m.
The Rev. Hemmingway was a former educator in the Clinton City School System, a member of the Middle District Association, Burgaw, a church musician and the current pastor of Wards Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Harrells.
The Rev. Hemmingway is survived by his wife, Loraine Hemmingway of the home; a son, Steven Hemmingway of Clinton; sister, Lula D. Hemmingway of Clinton; two brothers, Wesley Hemmingway of Philadelphia, Pa. and Connell Hemmingway of Clinton and one grandchild.

Edgar Steve Edwards, 66
CLINTON — Edgar Stephen “Steve” Edwards, 66, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, after a brief illness.
Mr. Edwards was born Sept. 28, 1943, in Greensburg, Ky. to the late Omar and Minnie Edwards.
He graduated from Green County High School and joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served for six years. He spent two tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart and The Navy Commendation Medal. Through the years he served in various law enforcement positions in Kentucky. He was an Area Supervisor for McDonalds and opened the first two McDonalds in Clinton. He later became Owner/Manager of the Golden Corral, Toddlers Pre-School and Steve’s Lawn Care Service in Clinton. He was an avid Trap Shooter, Sportsman and enjoyed showing his horses. He was a member of the Grove Park Baptist Church in Clinton.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 30, at Grove Park Baptist Church in Clinton with the Rev. Mike Shook officiating. Burial will follow at Clinton Cemetery, Clinton.
Mr. Edwards was survived by his wife, Janice Dyson Edwards of Clinton; twin children, son, Eric Scott Edwards and wife, Amy, of Hebron, Ky. and daughter, Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Stevens and husband, Jim, of Frankfort, Ky.; two step-daughters, Carol Horne and husband, Ronnie, and their children Mark and Grant Horne all of Clinton and Jennifer Denning of Raleigh; step-son, Kenneth Daniels of Fayetteville; nieces, Denise Stephen Wong and Mary Esther; nephews, Sammy Lacks, Mike and wife, Brenda Blakeman, and Robert O. Blakeman; a special Cocker Spaniel named Buddy Stephen Edwards was his faithful companion.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Marie Vann Edwards; two sisters, Gee Joyner and Hattie Blakeman.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 29, at Grove Park Baptist Church in Clinton.

CAMERON— Mrs. Roxanne Altieri, 81, of Cameron, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
She was preceded in death by her parents Philipe and Fortunata LaRosa Linzalone.

ROSEBORO — Mrs. Georgette J. Mack, 67, of 103 W. Pleasant St., passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 31, at Smith Chapel AME Zion Church in Garland with the Rev. Arnold B. Coley, the Rev. Sylvester Smith and the Rev. Jimmy Melvin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held at the mortuary Saturday, May 30, from 1 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m.
Mrs. Mack is survived by her husband, Henry Mack of the home; step daughter, Monica Addison of Columbia, S.C.; mother, Fannie Johnson of Garland; sisters, Arlene Marie Sturdivant of Garland, Carlis Melvin of Roseboro, Patricia Crumpler of Philadelphia, Pa.; brothers, Waydell, Clayton, Nathan and Gerald Johnson, all of Garland, and Albert Johnson of Clinton.
