A Roseboro man has been arrested and charged with two felony drug offenses after citizens in a Garland neighborhood complained about drug activity in the neighborhood.
Derek Delvon Goodwin, 29, of 3900 Old Mintz Highway, Roseboro, was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver a schedule VI controlled substance and manufacturing a schedule VI controlled substance.
According to reports from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, numerous complaints from Garland residents led to an SID (Special Investigations Division) investigation of Goodwin. The invesitgation culminated with the suspect’s arrest late last week at his mother’s residence on Second Street in Garland. Goodwin was standing in her front yard while investigators approached him. Within minutes, officers discovered 21.8 grams of marijuana in his possession, reports indicate.
Goodwin was immediately arrested and taken to the Magistrate’s office where he was placed under a $25,000 unsecured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for April 30.
According to the N.C. Department of Corrections, Goodwin has a history of convictions dating back to 1999. Those convictions include: larceny (Feb. 1999); assault on a female and damage to property (April 2002); possession of stolen goods (Aug. 2005); possession of a firearm by a felon (Sept. 2007); and possession of a schedule II controlled substance (July 2008). He was released on parole after serving one year and six months in August 2009 for the possession of a firearm by felon charge

My, my, my!
In the end, what do you really have here? Another loser who probably lives at home with his mother and selling drugs. My God, Garland has really become the drug capital of Sampson County. Good job, Sheriff Thornton. Way to be on top of things.
