Chandler Fryar received a $2,500 scholarship by placing first in the North Carolina State Baptist Bible Drill and Speakers Tournament held April 30, 2011 in High Point. Fryar participated in the National Invitational Speakers Tournament held in Birmingham, Ala., placing third. Fryar is the son of Glen Fryar of Clinton and the late Carlotta Pope Fryar and is a rising senior at Harrells Christian Academy.
