The Resources Conservation Workshop (RCW) is sponsored by the North Carolina Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts in conjunction with the Hugh Hammond Bennett Chapter of Soil and Water Conservation Society of America, N.C. Soil and Water Conservation Commission, Division of Soil and Water Conservation and the NCSU Soil Science Department. The RCW was held on June 24-29 on the North Carolina State university campus in Raleigh. This year Lane Hall from Sampson County were among those selected.

Hall is a rising junior from Clinton High School. Hall’s parents are Jodi and Keith Hall of Clinton. He was sponsored by the Sampson County Soil and Water Conservation District and received the Anna S. Sumner Award. This award makes it possible for local students to attend this week long session on our natural resources and the environment. For more information on this workshop call 910 592-7963, Ext. 3.

The RCW is a natural resources training event for high school students from across North Carolina. The students are brought to North Carolina State University and spend a week studying our natural resources: forest, aquatics, wildlife, soil/land uses, alternative energy, solid waste management, waste and current environmental issues. Students are housed in NCSU campus dormitories under the guidance of live in counselors.

This gives them an opportunity to explore college life and to talk with natural resources professionals.
