The Lady Crusaders of Harrells Christian Academy added another W to their record Monday with a 30-25 road win over Fayetteville Academy.
Both teams played pretty evenly in the low-scoring matchup, with the Crusader girls taking a commanding 12-3 lead in the first quarter, but their shots wouldn’t fall nearly as easily in the second period.
Fayetteville outscored the Lady Crusaders in the second quarter 7 to 3, but the early lead gave Harrells the advantage, at 15-10, heading into the half.
An evenly matched third quarter, left the Fayetteville deficit the same, with each teaming scoring 8 points each to begin the fourth and final frame with Harrells ahead 23- 18
The fourth quarter saw both teams matching intensity and scoring 7 points each, but the first quarter advantage for the Crusaders proved enough to allow them to hold on for the win.
Emily Benton led scoring for the girls with 12 points. She also had 7 rebounds and 2 steals for the game. Regan Murphy had 11 points, 12 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks on the night; Anna Huff had 7 points; Bucky Everette had 3 points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals; and Haylee Parks had 4 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals.
The win moves the Lady Crusader record to 13-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. They travel to O’Neal for a game today and then host Cape Fear Academy on Friday.
