Spartans win close one

After defeating the Titans of Trask Wednesday 3-2, Union is one step closer to a potential second place finish in the Tri-County Conference, head coach David Stanley commented.

“We beat Trask 3-2 in overtime, and this should solidify us for a second place finish if we can win the next two games,” Stanley said.

Union’s goals were scored by Migel Lora, Hairon “Jackie Chan” Sevilla and Luis Vargas.

Harrells falls to

Village Christian

Despite bringing the match to four sets Tuesday, the Crusaders fell to Village Christian 3-1, head coach Sara Davis reported after press time Tuesday.

The scores were 25-15, 19-25, 25-23 and 25-17.

Leading players were Haley Wachter with four aces and seven kills; Allyson Warren with three aces, 12 service points and four kills; Tyson Blunt with one ace and four service points; and Maggie Massengill with 10 blocks.

Dark Horses get

win over Richlands

Heading into last night’s soccer match against East Central foe, the Richlands Wildcats, the second place Dark Horses controlled their own destiny and could seal the second place position with a win; however, it all seemed to be slipping away by halftime.

But the feisty Dark Horses rallied in the second half with three goals, beating the Wildcats 3-1 at Richlands High School.
