The Hobbton Middle volleyball team improved their record to 6-1 with a straight set victory over Roseboro-Salemburg Middle Thursday night 25-16, 25-21, and 25-18.

“Not trying to take anything away from R-S, but we looked a bit out of sorts tonight,” said Hobbton coach Chip Pollock. “I don’t know if our girls took the Leopards lightly or if they were just off, but they didn’t play at their usual level.”

Hobbton jumped out to a huge lead in the first set, but the Leopards came storming back. “R-S is always athletic, aggressive, and well coached,” Pollock stated. “We let them hang around in the first set and it almost cost us.”

Roseboro-Salemburg took early leads in the next two sets but the Wildcats proved to be too much.

“I was very proud at the way the team kept pushing,” Pollock noted. “We got some big contributions from unusual sources which was great to see.”

Leading the Wildcats were Maddy Roesch, Denise Lamb, Kaitlyn Balance, Megan Parker, and Rachel West.
