Hobbton JV football head coach Mike Barnett is proud of the effort his young team has put forth this season. Despite Thursday’s 57-8 loss to Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs.

“I’m really proud of the guys,” Barnett explained after Thursday’s battle on the road. “We have 17 guys and three of those 17 didn’t finish tonight’s game. But still they played with a lot of heart.”

Wallace was up 24-0 before the Wildcats got on the board following a 2-play drive that got kicked off on a pretty 20-yard pass from Logan Langdon to Tyjay Gray.

Just before the half, Brandon Gurrolo and D.J. Harper took on four Bulldogs that opened a massive hole for Steven Bell, who had a big 56-yard run.

The Bulldogs took a comfortable 38-8 lead into the half and never looked back.

“You know, we made some adjustments coming into the second half and held them to just 19 points,” Barnett said. “These guys have come a long way and I am really proud of them.”

Hobbton will play again next week at home vs. Midway. It will be the first full season the team will complete in six years.

“It is a big thing for us,” the coach said. “These guys are young, but they are one the easiest group of guys that I have ever coached.”
