In a formal ceremony on June 23, 2012, at Clinton Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1903 Sunset Ave., Ashley Carol Horne became the bride of Donald Edward Kornegay Jr.

The Rev. Dwight Dunning officiated the 5 o’clock double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raeford Horne of Roseboro. Her maternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Raeford Jones of Clinton. Her paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. William A. Horne of Autryville. The bride is a 2004 graduate of Clinton High School, a 2010 graduate of Johnston Community College’s Radiology program, and a 2012 graduate of Johnston Community College’s Medical Sonography (ultrasound) program.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Gore of Warsaw, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Edward Kornegay Sr., of Chinquapin. His maternal grandparents are the late Mr. Doane Houston, and Ms. Brenda Barnhill, of Warsaw. His paternal grandparents are the late Mr. Elbert Kornegay, and Mr. and Mrs. Gertrude Jones, of Warsaw. The groom is a 2002 graduate of Hobbton High School. He is a graduate of Campbell University with a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science, and a Masters Degree in Clinical Research. He is currently in the Doctor of Pharmacy Program at Campbell University.

The bride wore a gown designed by Maggie Sottero.

Musicians were Mr. Stan Iredell Benton, pianist; Mr. Geoffrey Tart, trumpet.

Vocalists were Mrs. Clara Riggleman, Mr. Geoffrey Tart, and Mr. David Tew.

Mrs. Ashley Pate Tew, lifelong best friend of the bride was the matron of honor.

Ms. Kelly Capps was the maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Ms. Abbie Jo Pope, like a sister to the bride for many years, of Roseboro, Ms. Amber Kornegay of Chinquapin, sister of the groom, Ms. Amanda Honeycutt of Clinton, lifelong friend of the bride, and Mrs. Holly Moore, of Clinton.

Flower girl was Miss. Rayanna Houston of Warsaw, cousin of the groom.

Mr. Jonathan Tew, lifelong best friend of the groom was his best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Donald E. Kornegay Sr. of Chinquapin, father of the groom; Mr. Jeff Gore of Warsaw, stepfather of the groom; Mr. David Fowler of Warsaw, uncle of the groom; Mr. Brandon Fowler of Goldsboro, cousin of the groom; and Mr. David Lee Fowler, cousin of the groom.

Ring Bearer was Master Kalep Houston of Warsaw, cousin of the groom.

Special honorees were Ms. Betty Moore of Clinton, aunt of the bride; and Ms. Mary Hall of Clinton, aunt of the bride

Directors of the wedding ceremony were Mrs. Joy Spell of Autryville, and Ms. Marsha McPhail of Clinton, friends of the bride and her family.

Guest Register and Program Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Kirk Pope of Roseboro, lifelong close friends of the bride and her family.

Reception

Following the ceremony the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Family Life Center of Clinton PH Church. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Woody McLamb of Clinton. Master of ceremonies was Mrs. Clara Riggleman.

After a week long honeymoon in Las Vegas, the couple is residing in the Plainview area, of Sampson County.

Rehearsal Dinner

Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Gore, mother and stepfather of the groom, were hosts to a rehearsal dinner for the couple, the wedding party, out of town guests, and close family at the The Brass Lantern Restaurant in Dunn, on the eve of the wedding.

Pre-Nuptial Events

On April 29, a wedding shower in honor of the couple, was given by the bride’s aunts on her father’s side. The shower was at the home of the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Helen Freeman of Stedman.

On May 1, a bridal shower in honor of the couple was given by the co-workers of the bride, from Sampson Regional Medical Center Business Office.

On May 5, a wedding shower in honor of the couple was given by the bride and groom’s family, and friends. The shower was in the fellowship hall at the couple’s church, Clinton PH.

On May 27, a garden shower in honor of the couple, was given by Melanie and Bryan Smith, Kristy and Marcus Smith, and Ellen and Ronald Smith at the home of the bride’s cousin, Bryan and Melanie Smith.

June 1-3, a Bachelorette Weekend Getaway to Myrtle Beach was hosted by Mrs. Ashley P. Tew, bride’s best friend and Matron of Honor, and Mrs. Kristine Tew, friend of the bride.

On June 18, a celebration dinner honoring the bride and groom was given by WC and Edna Martin, Gary and Kay Warrick, and Sherry and Doug Baxley at The Brass Lantern Restaurant in Dunn.
