Clinton’s Dark Horses played hard and smart on the road against Croatan Wednesday and returned home with a 4-0 sweep under their belt.

“I thought the guys moved the ball well, communicated well, played unselfish soccer and kept the ball on the ground. It was almost a complete performance,” coach Brad Spell said.

He was also able to give all his Horses some playing time, something he said a coach likes to see and something, just as importantly, that helps morale.

“It was a good win for us,” Spell said. “The guys played a lot smarter tonight, and that’s something else I like to see.”

Clinton was up by 2 at the half, and came back in the second period to put two more into the net.

Scoring for the Horses was Luis Aguilar, Ryan Taylor, Adriel Coello and Wil Pearson.

The win moves Clinton to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

They play host to Swansboro Monday. Varsity game time is 6:30 p.m.
