Clinton’s JV girls sent the Swansboro Pirates packing Friday night, defeating the visitors 43-28.
The Lady Pirates came onto the court to start the night with a competitive goal to win, even though throughout the night the Lady Horses caught up and kept a lead. But ending the first quarter of the game, the young Pirates were ahead 8-7.
After a few injuries and fouls, the second quarter ended with Clinton ahead 16-14.
Realizing they were a point behind, the Pirates fought hard and ended the third quarter ahead 23-22.
Slowly the Pirates began to fade away, as Clinton’s JV girls kept applying the pressure, blazing a trail to their 43-28 victory.
Coach Regina Parker praised her players and wore a proud smile to prove it. “This game was a huge improvement from our last game” Coach Parker said.
Clinton’s Jasmine Fryar led her team in scoring with 14 points; Jacklyn Parker hsf 20, Zoey Harris and Brielle Mitchell had 9 ; and Chelsea Underwood added 2.
The JV girls will face Topsail Tuesday at 4:30 for another home game.
