The Midway varsity girls basketball team traveled to North Johnston Tuesday evening in a match-up with the hometown Panthers. North Johnston won the game, 49-33

In a building that was lacking energy to start with, the Lady Raiders were sluggish from the opening tip. It seemed that the entire first quarter, they had no energy, and the scoreboard was evidence of that, as the Lady Riaders trailed 16-3 after the opening period,

In the second quarter, Midway started to be more aware, and play harder. Hannah Hubbard ran the floor nicely on consecutive plays to draw fouls on the Lady Panthers, and Tess Williams and Jennifer Blackmon scored a couple of buckets before halftime to cut into the deficit. The Lady Panthers led 27-16 at halftime.

The rest of the game was basically a push. The Lady Raiders trailed by 13 after the first quarter, and only lost the rest of the game by 3 points. The lack of energy really hurt their chances early.

Jennifer Blackmon led the Lady Raiders with 10 points, Jada Cannady added 8, and Hannah Hubbard scored 7.
