Union’s JV continued its conference winning streak Thursday night, battling it out with the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs and getting the win 25-16; 25-20.

The varsity didn’t fair as well, falling in four 23-25; 25-16; 25-11; 25-10, but according to coach Dana Strickland showed great promise in the first game and a half of play.

“They really started out good,” Strickland said of the varsity. “They were communicating, moving well … we won the first set and they started out pretty good in the second, then something happened. I’m really not sure what.”

Strickland said she saw potential in her varsity team, but was frustrated that they weren’t working to keep the momentum they begin with going throughout the match.

“I know what they can do, what they are capable of, but I’m just not seeing it through an entire game,” Strickland said.

The JV, on the other hand, had another stellar performance even though Strickland said they actually weren’t playing as well as she knew they could.

“They played good, they really did, but we weren’t as strong as I’ve seen them, but we pulled it out anyway; I’m happy with that.”

The JV record moves to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The varsity is 2-8 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

Union plays hosts to Rosewood Monday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
