After two games played this week, the Midway Raider’s summer ball team recovers from their losses against Terry Sanford and Jack Britt and get their head in the game for tonight’s game against Village Christian.

According to coach Jason Fussell, the Raider’s took a blow from Terry Sanford Monday, June 22, with a 14-5 lossto Sanford.

However, despite their defeat, Fussell said that Brett Godwin, Anthony Horne, Jordan Farthing and Matthew Phillips led the team in hitting.

“Brett Godwin went two for three, with one run scored; Anthony Horne went one for four, with two RBIs; Jordan Farthing went one for one with two RBIs; and Matthew Phillips went one for two with one run scored,” Fussell said late Tuesday evening.

Losing pitcher for the Raiders was Matthew Spell.

As for their game Tuesday, June 23, against Jack Britt, Fussell shared that the Raiders again left defeated 6-2, Jack Britt.

Leading hitters for this game were Wes Hurley and Horne.

“Wes Hurley went one for four with one run scored and Anthony Horne scored a run,” Fussell commented late Tuesday evening.

Fussell furthered that the losing pitchers during Tuesday’s game was Chase Autry, who played three innings.

“The last five hits only earned two runs and he struck out four batters,” Fussell noted.

The remaining three innings were pitched by Riley Baggott who finished with one hit and no runs earned as well as obtaining four strike outs.

The Raiders summer ball team will play tonight, Thursday, June 25, at home against Village Christian. To see the outcome of this game look on Friday’s sports page and on our website at www.clintonnc.com.
