The Midway Middle School Raiders matched up against Union and Hobbton Thursday for the kick off to their volleyball season.

According to coach Tracy Wrench, the Midway girls played great games for this to be the first set of games for the season.

Wrench reported that the middle school Raiders were able to rout the Spartans 25-17 and 25-21.

As for players, Wrench highlighted Caroline Pate for having seven aces in a row and Morgan Tew for having seven aces and five service points against the Spartans.

During their second match Thursday, Midway took on Hobbton Middle School, where they were able to come out with another 2-0 victory. The scores were 25-22 and 25-10.

“Hannah Horne carried the Raiders to the second victory with four aces and three points on serves,” Wrench commented, adding that Tew had three aces and three service points and Jessica Ammons had four aces and three service points.

“I would also like to highlight Ivey Parker for having several saves. Ivy and Hannah Horne played outstanding defense. They both had several digs a piece.”

Wrench further revealed that Taylor Fann, a new member of the Raider team, played an outstanding game as well.
