A Newton Grove man, charged in connection with a rash of recent vehicle break-ins throughout the Newton Grove and Plain View areas, was placed under an additional $75,000 bond after Sampson County sheriff’s investigators added six more incidents to his file Tuesday morning.
Last week, Richard Wayne Buck, 32, of 729 Raleigh St., Newton Grove, was charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle; larceny; and three counts of possession of stolen goods after being arrested at his home.
At the time of his arrest, Buck was given a $5,000 bond and a trial date of Jan. 8.
However, investigators linked him with six other crimes Tuesday for a total of 21 charges, according to law enforcement officials Wednesday morning.
Buck, who was already in the Sampson County Detention Center, was charged Tuesday in six separate incidents. In addition to his other charges, he now faces offenses of larceny and possession of stolen goods; breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen goods; two counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, two counts of larceny and two counts of possession of stolen goods; breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen goods; two counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, larceny and possession of stolen goods.
Buck was given a combined $75,000 bond for the additional charges. His court date remains Jan. 8.
According to the N.C. Department of Corrections, Buck has a history of convictions dating back to 2003. Those convictions include assault on a female (July 2003), misdemeanor breaking and entering and felony breaking and entering (both in Jan. 2009).
Investigators have recovered some stolen items from Buck’s residence and are currently trying to identify victims’ items.
