Investigators are searching for a shoplifter who allegedly lifted $20 worth of merchandise from a local discount store Monday afternoon.

According to Clinton Police reports, a man and woman entered Dollar General Store, located at 337 North Blvd.,around 1:17 p.m. The male grabbed a shopping cart and headed down an aisle away from the female as they walked in the store. Minutes later the woman allegedly grabbed some unidentified items and placed them in the front of her pants, then casually walked to find the man.

As they approached the counter, the male emptied his cart and paid for all of his items. The woman never paid for the items she had hidden. The pair then walked out of the store.

Reports show that police investigators watched surveillance footage and witnessed the alleged larceny. Although he was with the suspect, reports indicate that the male was not involved in the theft.

The woman was identified as a black female, with straight black hair that was pulled back into a pony tail. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a burgundy shirt and black pants.

If you have any information on the woman or this crime, call the Clinton Police Department at 910-592-3105.
