Two local men are facing felony drug charges, separate arrests stemming from the seizure of 12 pounds of marijuana and undercover sales of crack cocaine.

Investigation of the cases was conducted by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Special Investigation Division. Both arrests were made Friday, according to reports filed Tuesday morning.

In the first arrest, Jose Martinez Rosas, 41, of 1116 Lopez Lane, Faison, was charged with trafficking marijuana and possession with intent to sell, manufacture and deliver marijuana. Bond was set at $250,000 secured.

According to reports, sheriff’s authorities seized 12 pounds of marijuana in the investigation, which was a U.S. Postal Service “controlled delivery.” The delivery was made after a law enforcement K-9 alerted on the package for the presence of narcotics. A search warrant was obtained and subsequently executed, and the drugs were discovered, authorities said. Rosas was arrested at his Lopez Lane home.

Rosas has previously been convicted in Sampson County of operating a vehicle without a license and driving while license revoked, with a conviction on the latter coming in June 2009. Rosas was still on probation at the time of his Friday arrest.

In the other drug arrest made by SID, a local man was charged in connection with drug seizures made by undercover agents.

Ernest Terrell McKoy, 21, was charged with two counts each of selling a Schedule II controlled substance, delivering a Schedule II controlled substance and manufacturing a Schedule II controlled substance.

McKoy’s bond was set at $30,000 secured. Warrants were dated Aug. 6, stemming from an undercover investigation by local drug agents.

During the course of the undercover operation, there were two separate seizures of .2 grams and .3 grams of crack cocaine made.

According to the N.C. Department of Corrections, McKoy’s probation and parole status is listed as “active.” Court records show he has previous convictions in Sampson County of discharging firearm into occupied property and simple assault/affray.

McKoy was served the new charges at the N.C. Probation Office.
