The four county teams met on the links at Sandy Ridge this past week and Midway’s team came out on top of the nine-hole match.
Raider Tyler Braun led all the teams with a low score of 40. Midway’s team took the honors after their top 4 swingers had a combined score of 177. They were Braun, 40; Caleb Sanders, 44; Ben Edwards, 46; and Clay Honeycutt, 47. Other scores for the Raiders were Zach Dixon, 48; Drew Johnson, 49; Andrew Shirley, 55; Logan Allen, 55; Chris Dixon, 54; Dillon Hawley, 58; and Trent Mallard, 58.
Union squeezed into the second spot by two strokes with a score of 187. Their top 4 golfers were Tyler Ross, 42; Evan Johnson, 43; Alex Maxwell, 50; Hunter Johnson, 52. They were followed by Brady Roberts, 54; and Andrew Marsh, 70.
Lakewood’s team finished with a score of 189. Their top 4 players were Timothy White with a score of 44; Allison Heinz, 46; Griffin Faircloth, 47; Taylor Freeman, 52. Other Leopard scores were Ricky “Woods” Webb; Trace Faulk, 55; Ryan Smith, 57; Max Strawderman, 58; Cory Kinnaman, 59; Casy Lewis, 63; Jessica Lucas, 67.
Hobbton’s team finished at 248. Their four golfers were Alex Parham, with a score of 57; Z. Rackley, 63; Corey Lee, 63; and Brain Lee, 65.
The teams meet again after the Easter break. Hobbton, Union, James Kenan, and Wallace-Rose Hill will play at Timberlake on Wednesday, April 10, and Lakewood, Pender, Trask, and Midway will compete at Lakewood Country Club.
