Falling behind 24-21 at the half Friday, Midway’s lady Raiders pulled it together in the second half for a 44-39 win over Wallace-Rose Hill.
“We got behind 23-12 in the second period, but we were able to pull it up,” said head coach Brian Wallum post game.
Wallum commented that the Raiders began playing well in the second half of the ball game, outscoring the Bulldogs 23 to 15.
While Midway was able to sneak past Wallace-Rose Hill in the second half, the first quarter was an evenly played match, with the Bulldogs ending slightly ahead 10-6.
Midway would bring it to a two-point game early in the second quarter, but the ‘Dogs would boost ahead by five soon after.
Wallace would eventually take this to an 11 point rise over the Raiders by mid-quarter; however, Midway would rally with turnovers and easy baskets for a 24-21 halftime score.
Following the break, Midway continued to dominate the court both offensively and defensively. According to Wallum, the lady Raiders put up an additional nine points in the third quarter, while holding the Bulldogs to a mere two.
In the final quarter, Midway would out score Wallace 14 to 13, but their third quarter command would secure the victory 44-39.
