There have been some injuries and some changes to Midway’s soccer team over the last few days, but the Raiders have taken them all in stride, pulled together as a unit and shown a tenacity to win, according to their coach.

They did just that Wednesday, shutting out a scrappy Trask team 5-0.

“They played the field well today,” said coach Allan McLamb. “They are playing as a solid unit right now, and that’s something I’m glad to see. They have stepped up as young men and dealt with the changes and are playing good, solid soccer.”

The Raiders scored three of their five goals in the first half. Alex Boggs hit pay dirt first with an assist from Jimmy Blackmon.

That goal was followed a little later by teammate Trey Marowski who scored a goal with an assist from Chris Dixon.

Then David Gomez hit the back of the net before the end of the half, assisted by Matt McLamb to put Midway up 3-0.

Coming back from the break, Boggs, with an assist from Dixon, found the net again.

The final goal came from McLamb.

“With all we’ve done, all the adjustments we’ve made, I couldn’t ask for the guys to have played any better. Trask is a scrappy team that never quit, but our guys just played well, stuck to their game plan and got the solid win.”

The win moves Midway to 8-3-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the conference.

They travel to No. 1 ranked Wallace-Rose Hill Monday for a 6 p.m. game.

Though Wallace is a tough team, McLamb said the Raiders were ready for the ‘Dogs. “We tied them the last time out. We’re going to go over there and give it all we’ve got.”
