Red Hill Universalist Church on Taylors Bridge Highway South of Clinton will celebrate Ingathering Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 1:30 p.m. with bluegrass music featuring Gena Britt Tew.

The Annual Auction will be held at 3 p.m. followed by supper at 5 p.m.

Tew lives in Clinton and has been involved in bluegrass music and entertaining for many years. She fell in love with bluegrass music at an early age and has worked with a number of Bluegrass groups through the years. She is an accomplished vocalist, banjo picker and songwriter. Her current involvement is with a newly formed group, Skip Cherryholmes Quintet. She debuted with them Sept. 17 at Madison Square Park in New York City at an outdoor concert. She has her own CD, ‘Doin All I Can’ and is considered one of the best young entertainers in the business.

The auction will feature homemade and homegrown items including quilts, cakes, pies, wreaths, birdhouses, jams, jellies, pickles, fruits, vegetables and some surprise items as well. There will also be a half and half drawing with the winner getting half of the proceeds and and church getting half.

Supper will consist of barbecue pork and homemade chicken salad, slaw, hush puppies, beverage and dessert for $6. Take out plates will also be available. Sno-cones, lemonade, and soft drinks will also be available throughout the day.

The entire event will be held outside but will be moved inside in case of rain. For more information about the event call Red Hill’s Pastor, Rev. Doak Mansfield, at 601-498-0906 or the church at 910-592-4378. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
