A northern Sampson County man was arrested on three charges Tuesday evening after he consented to a search of his vehicle. The search turned up .20 grams of crack cocaine.

Curtis Wooten Warren, 55, of 2851 Easy St., located between Spivey’s Corner and Newton Grove, was charged with DWI; possession of a schedule II controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to reports, Warren pulled up to two Sampson County Sheriff’s deputies in his 2007 Ford F-150 to talk to them while they were parked at North Spring Branch Road and Greenpath Road Tuesday evening. After a few moments of discussion, the officers asked Warren if they could search the truck. Warren gave consent.

Within minutes, .20 grams of crack were found; as well as drug paraphernalia. Warren was immediately taken to the Sampson County Detention Center, where he was charged and given a $5,500 bond and a trial date of Dec. 3.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Warren has no previous convictions.
