Despite falling 18-0 to Fairmont in their season opener Thursday night, the JV Spartans football team delivered a solid effort, according to head coach Josh Rackley.
“We needed to make a few minor adjustments and we have got to get better getting to the lines, but considering it was our first game, I thought we played pretty sound on both sides of the ball and on special teams,” the coach said.
In their home opener, Union dressed out only 19 players, while Fairmont put 50 n the field.
“We didn’t have all the guys,” Rackley noted. “But for what we had, I tell you, I was very happy with the way the guys played tonight.”
The JV Spartans will play again next Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at home against Laney.
