In Matthew 7:1-2 Jesus says “Judge not, that ye be not judge. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judge: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”
I was talking to a lady the other day who spoke about one of the presidential candidate commercials. She was upset about what one of the commercials was talking about, which was unemployment. She went on to talk about the people in the commercials and how they are saying they are without a job but are probably self-employed. I listened to her go on about these people who she had never seen in her life and will most likely never see. As she was talking, this verse came to mind about Jesus making it plain to you and I about judging.
It’s so easy to judge, but it’s very dangerous in the eyes of God.
Many Christians are guilty of pointing a finger at others before taking a major look at themselves. We live in a world that is full of judgement, particularly without knowing a person’s entire story. Many are just like this lady who was talking about people all the time which is (gossiping) and not knowing the entire story?
And, if you do know all of the facts, do you still go on talking about others? Do you know that when you judge others you are doing something that God, himself, does not even do? The “Great White Throne Judgment” has not come yet — just read about it in Revelation 20:11-15. Saints of God, everyone has a story; in fact, you and I have a story as to why we are like we are …we did not become who we are overnight.
If I can be honest “If it had not been for Jesus,” you nor I would be here today. We don’t know everyone’s story so how dare us, as children of God, judge someone else or even talk about them.
Have you forgotten that it was just a little while ago that God reached down and saved you from your sins?
As you judge others so will you be judged the same way, so don’t act surprised when you reap what you have sown.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you be delivered from this “spirit of judging.” It can and will cost you blessing from God.
