Ephesians 5:25 says “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church and gave himself for it.”

This week I would like to continue to talk with you through the word of God on the subject of “ The Husbands” and their role in the marriage.

Men of God, as Jesus gave himself for you and I, you must give yourself to your wife and children. I can’t understand why some men of God would pray for years that God would send them a “God-fearing woman” into their lives, yet when God answers and sends her, years later you don’t love her nor give yourself to her like you used to.

If you were not going to love her unconditionally, why did you ask God to send her? Yes, she has had your children and has gone through changes in her body, but she is still the woman you ask God to send you. As God uses his word to speak to us, men of God, you must “open” your mouth and express in a “Godly way” some concerns you may have about your marriage with your wife.

Adam didn’t speak up in his home, he didn’t take authority in a Godly way, and because of that Eve was deceived and their house was destroyed by Satan’s lies. Men of God, it’s time to love your wives more now than ever before. The devil is busy with plans to destroy your marriage. Men of God are you like Adam agreeing with any and everything your wife brings back home just to keep her quiet?

It does not matter how old you are or how long you have been married, you are still commanded by the word of God to love your wife and to give yourself to her. Love her even if she has let herself go. Come home and hug her neck and don’t fuss with her if she hasn’t started dinner yet.

Wake up one Saturday morning and cook breakfast for her rather than running off to go hunting, cut grass, or hang out at the store with your buddies gossiping about other people and their marriage.

It’s amazing at how Christian men can tell others about how to love their wives and honor them yet they want practice what they are preaching. Stop trying to fix everyone else’s marriage and fix your own.

If the flames have died down in your marriage, it’s your responsibility as the “priest of the house” to rekindle, restore, and refresh them in a way that’s pleasing to God and your wife. Stop calling on the preacher, and going to all these counseling sessions for the power to restore everything that has been lost in your marriage. That lies within you men of God.

The Bible says “Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” There is power on the inside for you to jump start your marriage, so tap into it through prayer and studying God’s word.
