The months are quickly passing and the day set aside for Americans across the United States to pause and pray is quickly approaching.
This year’s chairman of the event is the Rev. Marcus Becton is sharing planning duties with Margaret Spivey and they are both excited to announce the event scheduled for Thursday, May 3 beginning at noon.
Becton stated that this would be the 64th annual National Day of Prayer and the event would be held on the Sampson County Courthouse step.
“This years theme is ‘One Nation Under God’ based on Psalm 33:12. There will be special music provided. We encourage everyone to take a break and come join us as we pray earnestly for our country. There is a place for each person,” expressed Becton.
The planning committee is in hopes to have a large crowd to gather and pray for our nation, state, schools, government leaders and others during the time when the United States pauses to lift up their prayers.
“There is nothing for anyone to do but to show up. We don’t require anyone to speak or pray aloud. Just come out and be a part of this special day as we offer our concerns to God,” expressed Becton.
There will be a time of reading the Scriptures again this year but the time was not available at press time.
