It's hard to believe that another week has flown by! With five weeks left until I leave for Miss North Carolina, I am very excited and VERY busy! It seems that there isn't one day that goes by, that doesn't involve some aspect of preparation for this pageant!

This past week I had the opportunity to represent Spivey's Corner at numberous events! My weekend started off bright and early last Saturday morning when Alycia Mclamb, my outstanding teen, and I traveled to Fayetteville, NC to be a part of the "Papa's Pavement Pushers" ALS walk team! This team was set up in memory of my best friend Katherine Matthews grandfather who passed away from ALS, as well as in honor of my dear pageant friend Mr. Burns Smith! I am very happy to say that the walk went very successfully. Beth, Alex, Katherine, Scott, Alycia "Miss Spivey's Corner Outstanding Teen", Karlee Martin "Little Miss Midway Elementary School Ambassador", and I walked a total of 3 miles, and even came in 3rd place for the best banner contest! Overall, it was a great bonding experience which helped a worthy cause! Thank you to everyone who participated in this fight to defeat ALS! After our day of walking, Alycia and I headed to White Lake for their White Lake Water Festival Pageant! I was honored to have been invited to judge this event and had a great time as Katy Locklear "Miss UNCP" and Erika Taylor emceed the event! As you can tell, it was a LONG day full of fun!

Sunday was such a wonderful occasion because we all got to celebrate Mother's Day! After spending the morning with my Nana and Daddy in Clinton, NC, I rode over to have a wonderful lunch with the Matthews' family. After a delicious lunch, I headed to Dunn, NC to eat dinner and shag the night away with my mama, step father Rick, brother Clay, and Scott. Overall it was a great night! I am so thankful to have such wonderful family and friends during the holidays! I would also like to send out a big thank you to my mother for all that she does for me. Sometimes we ALL need to remember how much our mothers' actually do AND SPEND for us!

On Monday, my schedule started back as usual. I visited Harrell's Christian Academy for their kickoff of their "Healthy Heart Week"! I was honored to be able to talk with all of the children and answer any questions that they had, as well as perform my talent routine for them! I also was able to team up with Sampson County Parks and Recreation Department who help to promote Sampson County's program,"Eat Healthy, Move More"! This was a great experience and I am so thankful to Mrs. Margo Montgomery, and the faculty, students, and staff of Harrell's Christian Academy for being so kind and having me speak with the children! I was also asked to come back on Friday to help get the kids involved on the last day of their healthy heart activities! On this day we had a fruit tasting, activities and sports on the football field, and exercises in the gym! It was great to get invovled with the kids and really show them that being active and eating healthy can be fun! The Sampson County Parks and Recreation along with their promotional dog "Flex" were out and about once again to promote "Eat Healthy, Move More"! I hope that everyone can remember this and try to live a heart healthy lifestyle!

After a great lunch with my Mama, Daddy, and good family friend Jan Usher on Friday, I entertained and visited the Mary Gran Nursing Home at 2:30pm located in Clinton, NC. Along with a few other queens, Hailey Usher "NC Strawberry Festival Princess", Brooke Warren "Miss Sampson Community College", Alycia McLamb "Miss Spivey's Corner Outstanding Teen", and Kilie "Junior Miss Sampson County Angel", we all visited with the residents, took pictures with the Nursing Home King and Queen, signed autographs, entertained, and drank punch! It was a great way to talk about our platforms and encourage the residents to be active in the nursing home activities available for them! I am so thankful to Mary Gran for allowing us to come and visit!

This week was also a productive one! My mother and I went dress shopping on Wednesday and bought a total of 3 gowns! Not only did we purchase a gown to wear at the pageant, but, we found MY GOWN! This was one of the most special moments of my win so far! As most of you know that read my blog, I have been searching for the perfect dress since I won the title of "Miss Spivey's Corner"! I have been all over North Carolina, and even traveled to South Carolina looking for a dress that represented ME, and I found it! It fit like a glove, and the color was absolutely stunning! I would love to give you ALL the details , however, I think I would rather have you come to Miss North Carolina in June to see the entire ensemble on stage! I will be so excited to get to the stage in Raleigh and show everyone the finished products!

Also this week, I had the honor of attending my first " cow sale" held in Smithfield, NC with Mr. Joe Matthews! It was quite an experience and I was extremely happy when we stopped for ice cream in Newton Grove! I have to say, my splurge of banana pudding ice cream NEVER tasted SO good! After the cow sale, I quickly rode home and got ready for Midway Elementary's Kindergarten graduation held at Midway Elementary by the PTO. The program was very sweet and it was great to see all of the kids that I had worked with through Jump Rope for Heart at Midway Elementary once again! Between finishing up my semester of school work, working out, writing thank you cards, working on my dance, ordering material for outfits, working on my outfits, going shopping, working on my interview, and trying to find time to sleep, you can imagine how exciting a day off would be for me!

As you know, I am always on the go! Early Saturday, I spent the morning at the Four Oaks Acorn Festival, Parade, & Pageant with my outstanding teen, Alycia McLamb. We had a great time, and even got to see the Craig Woolard Band, who invited us up to the stage to introduce ourselves!! At 7pm tonight I will in Wilmington where I have been asked to dance at the "Miss Pleasure Island" pageant held at Rolland-Grise Middle School! I am very excited go and see all of my Wilmington pageant friends and spend the night at my rarely used apartment in Wilmington, NC! On Sunday I will be spending the day with my family and just taking a well needed day to relax! Until next time, here is a quote that I hope brings a bright smile to your upcoming week!

"We must be the change we wish to see" -Gandhi
