A search warrant executed in Clinton on Tuesday turned up 15 pounds of marijuana and placed a Sampson County man behind bars facing felony trafficking charges.

According to reports, deputies with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office executed the search warrant at 198 Byrd-Yancey Bass Road, Clinton, around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

During a search of the residence, eight bundles of marijuana, weighing a total 15 pounds, were located in the residence.

Francisco Javier Reynoso, 28, of 198 Byrd-Yancey Bass Road, Clinton, was taken into custody and charged with trafficking by possession of marijuana and trafficking by transporting marijuana.

Reynoso, who is listed on the report as an “unemployed citizen of Mexico,” was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $150,000 bond by Magistrate K. Ellis.

Reports show the search warrant was executed based on intelligence obtained from the Fayetteville Police Department’s Interdiction Team and surveillance of the residence.

“Interagency intelligence sharing is vital to combating illegal drugs, and this case is a good example of the results of such sharing,” said Sampson County Sheriff Jimmy Thornton.

Reynoso’s first court appearance is scheduled for later today, Nov. 13
