Two Faison men are facing serious felony charges after being linked to a break-in at Lake Artesia that occurred in late May.

Tyler Strickland, 18, of 1393 Marsh Kornegy Road, and James Eric Herring, 22, of 206 N. Faison Road, were taken into custody and each charged with breaking and entering; larceny; and possession of stolen property/goods in connection with the sound equipment that was taken from Lake Artesia Club on May 23.

According to reports released Wednesday morning, Strickland and Herring became prime suspects in the case and warrants were taken out for both of their arrests in connection with the crime. Strickland was arrested at his home around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19; Herring turned himself in to officers at the Sampson County Detention Center the next day.

Strickland was also charged with two outstanding warrants on simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was given a $25,000 bond and a trial date of Aug. 20. Herring was given a $10,000 bond and made his first court appearance last Friday.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, both Strickland and Herring are listed as having no previous convictions.

No information was available on why it took nearly a week for arrest reports to be filed at the Sheriff’s Department.
