Two Union High students are facing serious felony charges related to a December break-in, and were taken into custody at the school a few weeks back.

Sheriff’s reports were filed Monday regarding the Jan. 4 arrest, but officers noted that the delay in release of the incident report was related to the investigation and the pursuit of a third suspect.

Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Pope said release of the information any earlier would have hampered the continuing investigation.

Taken into custody on Jan. 4 were Jalen Mathis, 18, of 194 Trestle Road, Ivanhoe and Cameron Burkalter, 17, of the same Trestle Road address.

Both are now facing felony charges of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods.

The pair, reports show, were arrested at the school, charged with the Dec. 20 break-in at 496 Trestle Road, just a few blocks from their residence.

Details about the break-in were not released by sheriff’s authorities.

Mathis and Burkalter were each placed under separate $15,000 bonds. No court dates were listed on the reports.
