Hobbton’s girls took their game on the road Tuesday, bringing home a solid varsity road win.

The junior varsity lost in 2 sets, but the Lady Wildcats picked up a solid conference win, defeating the Titans in five — 27-29; 25-17; 18-25; 25-10; 9-15.

“I well pleased with the way they played tonight,” coach Russell Jones said of the varsity girls. “We started a little flat in the fourth, I thought, but we were able to come back; we got up, got some good shots and kept working at it.”

For the varsity, Taylor Bowden had 9 aces, 1 kill, 21 assists and 17 digs; Marcie McLamb, 2 aces, 5 kills, 3 assists, 18 digs; Casey Hobbs, 18 kills, 1 block, 5 digs; Michaela Wilson, 9 kills, 36 digs; Courtney Phipps, 1 ace, 1 kill, 7 digs; and McKenna Smith, 1 assist, 11 digs.

The varsity moves to 9-8 overall and 4-7 in conference play.

The JV fell to Trask in two game — 25-14, 25-8.

Jones said the girls played hard and even had their opponents knotted at 10, but then things began to fall apart. “I changed the lineup some, and we started off pretty good but we couldn’t keep it going.”

For the JV, Melissa Galleagos had 1 kill; Haley Martinez, 1 ace; Reese Holland, 1 assist; Taylor Aman, 1 assist; Samantha Monk, 1 kill; and Kaylee Matthews, 2 aces.

Hobbton plays host to Lakewood’s Lady Leopards Thursday. Games begin at 4:30 p.m.
