Too many turnovers and defensive rotations, said Midway’s head coach Clint Williams, caused the varsity Raiders a 80-65 loss to Wallace-Rose Hill Friday.

“We played real well in the first quarter and 5 minutes of the second quarter, but in the last 3 minutes of the second quarter we started turning the ball over, letting Wallace get a run on us,” Williams explained.

Williams said Midway had actually obtained an 8 point stretch over the ‘Dogs, but they were able to rally for an 11 point lead by halftime.

“Third quarter we came out the locker room flat, and finally decided to play the last 3 minutes of the game, cutting a 22 point lead to 15, but too many turnovers and defensive rotations was a problem for us tonight (Friday),” Williams concluded.

Kyle Knowles led the Raiders with 16 points; Chris Farthing had 12 points and 7 rebounds; Alex McPhail had 11 points and 14 rebounds; and Gray Rich had 7 points and 7 rebounds.

Midway will host Triton on Monday for the first round of the Nathan Gay Tournament. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.
