I would like to commend The Independent for the excellent article on Page B1, on Friday, Feb. 15, titled “Communicating Hope.”
If any readers missed it, go back and find that paper or go to your library — it will be well worth the effort.
The article – written by editor Sherry Matthews – focuses on the Toastmasters chapter organized at the local prison. When I saw the article, and recognized some of the faces of the inmates, and read their words now, I was awed at the effort made by Chic Gancer and the others who help these men through Toastmasters.
Even though the Bible admonishes us to visit the prisoner, few of us ever do. The Toastmaster supporters go every week and I admire them for it.
The Independent and editor Sherry Matthews editor put a lot of effort into this inspiring and well-written article.
