Clinton’s JV boys got their 13th win of the season Tuesday when they took on visiting Topsail, earning a 64-41 win.
“The key to the game was that this was a total team effort,” said coach Bobby Lamb. “And we had some great outside shooting from several players. I believe that made the difference in the game.”
Lamb singled out Rayquan Faison for his standout performance. “He made some key shots for us,” Lamb said. In all, Faison scored 16 points on the afternoon.
“It was a good game,” Faison added. “I just really appreciate the effort the guys put forth, and I really appreciate the parents and fans coming out to support us. That also makes a difference.
Clinton led Topsail from the start, opening up the game with a 20-9 first quarter lead and never looking back. The JV Horses scored 12 more in the second quarter to take a 32-18 lead into the half and put 12 more points on the board in the third period to Topsail’s 9.
It was, Lamb said, a good showing by his team.
In addition to Faison, scoring for Clinton was Emmauel Howard, 10 points; Joalen Best, 6; Maurice Robinson, 6; Michael Boykin, 5; Logan Batchelor, 5; Josiah Pope, 4; Jonathan Wright, 4; Kenjuan Morrisey, 2; Jaquand McLauren, 2; Blake Davis, 2; and Kevin Scott, 2.
The JV Horses move to 13-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference. They travel to East Duplin Friday afternoon for a 4:30 p.m. game.
