ROSEBORO — Mrs. Milo J. Matthews, 100, of 1324 Huntley School Road, went peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at her home with her children by her side.

The funeral was held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12, at Freedom Baptist Church, 2099 Tyndall Bridge Road, Salemburg, with the Rev. Sam Gore officiating. Also speaking were Bryan Strickland, Jo Ann Herring and Nelson Crumpler. Burial followed in the Matthews Family Cemetery, 1407 Huntley School Road, Roseboro.

Mrs. Matthews was born on June 4, 1912 to the late Eddie Leroy and Ophelia Royal Jackson, She was also preceded in death by her husband, Laddie Haywood Matthews; a son, Lattie Earl Matthews Sr.; a daughter, Betty Lou Myers; a granddaughter, Courtney Rae Grantham; and three brothers, Minton Jackson, Jasper Jackson, and Hinton Jackson. She was a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Virginia Matthews of Roseboro; two daughters, Peggy Matthews and husband, Jerry of Clinton; Glenda Grantham and husband, Ray of Roseboro; one son, Brewer Matthews and wife , Linda of Roseboro; eight grandchildren, Cindy Duber (Corey), Shelia Matthews, Earl Matthews Jr. (Heather), Melanie Creeger (Doug), Tonya Hobbs (Tommy), Chris Matthews (Sandra), Danny Myers, Ken Grantham (Ashley); nine great-grandchildren, Erin Duber (fiancé Aaron Lembke), Ryan and Ashton Kanniard, Cassidy and Tyler Hobbs, Courtney Matthews, Tiffany M. Naylor (Don); Luke Matthews, Trey Grantham; two great-great grandchildren Kayla Matthews and Christopher Naylor; a sister-in-law, Vernie Mae McKenzie; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Sunday Evening, Nov. 11, from 6-8 p.m. at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her son, Brewer and Linda Matthews, 3660 Corinth Church Road, Roseboro.
