Midway hosted the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs Thursday night looking for their second straight conference win. The Raiders were coming off a hard-fought victory over Trask and were playing once again without Jordan Thompson, who aggravated a collarbone injury in Tuesday’s game.
The Bulldogs, a perennial power in the Tri-County Conference, led 50-39 when lights went out in the Spiveys Corner area.
The Raiders had a strong first quarter and led 10-2 early in the period. The Bulldogs surged ahead 14-12 at the 2:52 mark, but Midway reclaimed the lead, 19-17, as the quarter came to a close.
The second frame belonged to the Bulldogs. They outscored the home team 27-16 for a 44-35 halftime lead.
In the third period, Wallace-Rose Hill outscored the Raiders 6-4 before the power outage stopped play. With 5:14 remaining in the quarter, Midway trailed 50-39. The game will be completed on Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.
Andre Sankey lef in scoring at that point with 13. Heath Smith, Quincy Baggett, Raheem Thomas, and Justin Thompson each had scored 6 points. Tyler Pope had connected for 2 points.
The Raiders, 5-4 overall, will host North Johnston on Thursday, Dec. 27. They will complete the suspended game on the first day back in school after the Christmas break, before traveling to Lakewood on Jan. 4.
