A 38-year-old Turkey man has been linked to two separate vehicle break-ins that took place Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
Anthony Scott Moore, 38, of 6090 Turkey Hwy., Turkey, was charged with two counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle; two counts of misdemeanor larceny; and two counts of possession of stolen goods.
Moore, who was arrested Thursday morning just an hour after the second incident, was taken to the Sampson County Detention Center and placed under a $10,000 secured bond. His trial date is Aug. 31.
Reports show that on the morning of Aug. 22, a 2009 Chevrolet Blazer was broken into at a daycare located in the 200 block of Southeast Boulevard, just outside of the Clinton city limits. Reported stolen was a purse and its contents valued at $200.
The next morning, Aug. 23, a woman reported that her 2012 Chevrolet Equinox was broken into at a daycare located in the 100 block of Hobbton Highway. Taken in the incident was a Coach purse valued at $300 and its contents.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a 2002 Buick Century in the area at the time of both incidents and gave a description of the suspect to law enforcement.
Those tips eventually led investigators to Moore. He was arrested Thursday around 9:30 a.m. without incident.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, the suspect has a history of convictions dating back to 1996. Those convictions include: 11 counts of writing worthless checks (August and September 1996); maintaining a place for a controlled substance (September 1998); larceny over $200 (March 2002); larceny (May 2005); DWI level 5 (January 2006); larceny (December 2005); larceny (June 2010); and breaking and entering (August 2010).
