Investigators search for suspects who robbed elderly man
by Doug Clark
Assistant Editor

Stealing money from an 85-year-old elderly man should not make anyone feel tough, but for three local punks, that apparently is the case.

That 85-year-old Clinton man, who was minding his own business as he sat in his front yard on his mobile scooter, was the victim of a strong armed robbery after three males approached him and stole his wallet last week.

According to reports released Monday morning by the Clinton Police Department, the senior citizen told police he was in his front yard, located in the 200 block of Royal Lane, Thursday evening, Aug. 16, around 7:20 p.m., when three unidentified males came into his yard asking about a vehicle parked in his driveway.

The elderly man told investigators that one of the three males came close to him and began asking him if the vehicle was operational and how much it cost.

When the suspect got close enough to the man, he allegedly pushed him, put his hand in his pocket and grabbed his wallet. The group then took off running.

The victim attempted to bite the suspect as he was reaching for his wallet, but was unsuccessful in his attempt.l

Reports show the senior citizen was unable to give officers a solid description of the suspects, other than that they were young males.

Officers are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the three suspects.

If you know the identities of the suspects or were in the area at the time of the incident, you are asked to call the Clinton Police Department at 910-592-3105.
