A Duplin County man and a Sampson County woman remained in jail late Wednesday afternoon, two days after being arrested on felony breaking and entering and larceny charges stemming from an incident on Basstown Road Sunday.
According to Sampson sheriff’s reports, Marcus Jermaine Joseph, 28, 272 Carrolls Road, Warsaw, and Courtney Nicole Bishop, 28, 2995 Basstown Road, Clinton are each facing one count each of breaking and entering and one count each of larceny after breaking and entering.
Both are jailed under separate $20,000 bonds.
Cpl. Marcus Smith said Wednesday that the two were taken into custody after an investigation led officers to suspect their involvement in the Dec. 16 incident.
“When deputies went to talk with the suspects,” Smith noted, “Ms. Bishop was seen running out of the house with the stolen television in hand.”
Officers caught up with Bishop and took her and Joseph into custody.
The incident occurred the day before on Basstown Road shortly before, reports note, the homeowner returned to the residence and noticed that someone had forced open a rear door. Authorities were called and an inventory of the residence showed that several items had been taken, including a television, a DVD player and a sound system.
The stolen items, reports show, was found inside the suspect’s residence.
