Man robs store near Delway
by Doug Clark
Assistant Editor

Local law enforcement officers are seeking information that will help them solve an armed robbery that took place in board daylight at a convenience store over the weekend and put the suspect in jail.

According to sheriff’s reports, an unidentified man wearing a white bandanna around his face walked into the Shop and Go store, located at 12805 Taylor’s Bridge Hwy., just north of Delway, around 12:18 p.m. Saturday afternoon, pulled a knife on the 41-year-old female clerk and demanded the money in the cash register.

No one else was in the store at the time of the incident. The clerk, who was shaken but uninjured, obliged and the man ran away from the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Although the area was searched, the suspect could not be located.

“We are asking the public for any information they might have on this incident,” said Capt. Eric Pope.

Pope said the man was described as a dark-skinned male, tall with a heavy build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a camouflage jacket, dark pants and the white bandanna that covered his face.

If you have any information or were in the area at the time of the incident, you are asked to call the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-592-4141. All information given will be anonymous.

To reach Doug Clark call 910-592-8137 ext. 123 or email to sisports@heartlandpublications.com.
