Armed suspect robs man at motel

A 29-year-old man, staying at a local motel, was allegedly robbed Thursday after an unidentified male and a female accomplice approached him with a weapon and demanded his wallet.

According to reports from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, the man was standing outside of his room at the Gracie Motel, located just outside of Clinton on Southeast Boulevard, Thursday morning when a couple approached him with a handgun and demanded his money.

The 29-year-old victim handed over his wallet with an undisclosed amount of cash inside, along with an ID card.

After taking the wallet, the two suspects got into a blue Chevrolet two-door pickup truck. They were last seen headed north on U.S. Hwy. 701.

The male suspect was identified as a 5 foot 9 inch tall Caucasian, weighing 150 pounds with a slim build, short red hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown shirt, blue denim pants and flip flops.

The woman was identified as a 5 foot 7 inch tall Caucasian, weighing 140 pounds with black, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black blouse with stripes, red shorts and tennis shoes. The woman’s body was also reportedly covered with tattoos.

There were no injuries in the incident and the investigation is ongoing, said authorities Friday morning.
